Carnevale dei Crapòn

The Carnevale dei Crapòn of Sueglio is renewed each year on Fat Saturday of the Ambrosian calendar. In the 2025 edition, the community of Valvarrone revived the traditional ritual: the morning parade of masks – the Crapòn with their large papier-mâché heads and the Doppi – with stops throughout the valley accompanied by popular music, the distribution of scarpasce in Sueglio's square, the community dinner, and the burning of the Carnival King. A tradition recognized as an intangible cultural asset of Lombardy and deeply felt by the inhabitants of the village.
