Edition 2025 — Caracalla Festival
Caracalla Festival 2025: «Between Sacred and Human»
The 2025 edition of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma's summer season took place from June 3 to August 7 under the artistic direction of Damiano Michieletto, with a guiding theme—«Between Sacred and Human»—that brought sacred and secular repertoires into dialogue, also in relation to the Jubilee Year.
For the first time, the festival utilized two venues: alongside the historic Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Maxentius in the Roman Forum was added. The program included four new productions, including George Frideric Handel's La Resurrezione and Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Basilica of Maxentius, Verdi's La traviata, and the musical West Side Story at the Baths of Caracalla. Dance featured the customary Roberto Bolle and Friends gala and the triptych Bausch - Béjart - Wheeldon with the Ballet Company directed by Eleonora Abbagnato. The concert section hosted, among others, Fiorella Mannoia, Riccardo Cocciante, Alessandra Amoroso, Giorgia, Antonello Venditti, Giovanni Allevi, and Alex Britti.
