Edition 2025 — Caracalla Danza
The first edition, September 2025
Caracalla Danza debuted from September 26 to 28, 2025, with three evenings at the Baths of Caracalla, in the city of Rome. The initiative, born from the Special Superintendency of Rome together with the National Choreographic Centre / Aterballetto and in collaboration with Romaeuropa, coincided with the completion of major restoration and enhancement works on the monument.
The hallmark of this edition was the return of water to the baths: a scenic installation in which the complex was reflected, transformed into a stage. Alongside the National Choreographic Centre / Aterballetto, the European company Gauthier Dance was hosted, presenting works—some world premieres—signed by choreographers such as Sharon Eyal, Marco Goecke, Angelin Preljocaj, and Hofesh Shechter, as well as a new creation by Diego Tortelli designed to be danced on water. Performances began just before sunset, with access to the scenic area from the late afternoon.
