Canto della Befana in Rio nell'Elba

In 2025, the Canto della Befana in Rio nell'Elba was repeated according to the ancient tradition on the evening of January 5th, organized by the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Rio. The procession started from Piazza del Popolo, stopping at eight food and wine stalls distributed throughout the village—from businesses to private citizens—reaching the public washhouse and the Buchino.

Accompanying the participants, who sang traditional well-wishing songs, was the Filarmonica Elbana "Giuseppe Pietri" band. The evening featured typical dishes such as sburrita di baccalà, paniccia cakes, and schiaccine, as well as traditional sweets like paniereto, imbollita, and castagnaccio, and concluded at midnight with the purifying bonfire of the Befana in Piazza del Popolo.
