Edition 2025 — Canto del Maggio
In 2025, the Canto del Maggio of Matelica confirmed the vitality of a tradition passed down through generations. On the night between April 30th and May 1st, the maggiaioli of the Cantamaggio Matelicese crossed the historic centre and the hamlets of the Municipality, in the province of Macerata, performing the questing song in front of the houses.
The propitiatory verses, accompanied by accordion, concertina, and percussion, marked the evening, which concluded with the saltarello and gifts offered by the families. An event that reaffirms the community's bond with its peasant roots and the folklore of the Marche.
