Edition 2025 — Canti di Passione

In 2025, the «Canti di Passione – Ce Custi o Gaddho na Cantalisi» festival once again enlivened Grecìa Salentina during Holy Week, with a series of events dedicated to devotional begging songs. Among the stages, the Hellenophone villages of Salento hosted confraternities, traditional groups, and study sessions on sacred folk music.

The 2025 edition of the festival took place over the weeks leading up to Easter, with events spread across the towns of Grecìa Salentina and stages in Melpignano and other villages of the Hellenophone area. Promoted by the Union of Municipalities of Grecìa Salentina with the Diego Carpitella Institute and the La Notte della Taranta Foundation, the event featured Easter begging songs, processions, and moments of discussion with scholars and ethnomusicologists. Among the protagonists were the Confraternities of Vico del Gargano, regular guests of the initiative, testifying to the bond between the Gargano and Salento traditions in the sung story of the Passion of Christ.
