Edition 2025 — Canossa Re-enactment

The 34th edition of the Canossa Historical Re-enactment took place on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Arena del Bosco dell'Impero, in Ciano d'Enza, marking the return to this venue after some editions at Rossena Castle. The evening combined a medieval village, a historical parade, the re-enactment of the Act of Pardon of 1077, and a Celtic music concert, with free admission.

The 34th edition of the Canossa Historical Re-enactment was held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Arena del Bosco dell'Impero, in Ciano d'Enza, organized by the Contrade Canossane with the patronage of the Municipality of Canossa.

From 5:00 PM, the medieval village "A step from History" opened, featuring artisans, a blacksmith, falconry, fencing masters, a healer, a fire-eater, storytellers, and taverns. At 6:00 PM, the historical parade started from the Ciano schools towards the Arena, with the Districts and the flag-wavers and musicians of the Maestà della Battaglia of Quattro Castella. At 7:00 PM, the re-enactment of the Act of Pardon of 1077 took place, with Lucia Romoli as Matilda, Luca Conti as Emperor Henry IV, and Federico Rossi as Pope Gregory VII. From 9:00 PM, the festival continued in the taverns with a concert of Celtic, Breton, Irish, and Scottish music by the Morrigan's wake.
