Edition 2025 — Candia Carnival
In 2025, Candia Lomellina also celebrated the Candia Carnival on Fat Tuesday, with the traditional 17th-century costume parade of the Bella Pierina, the theatrical trial in Piazza San Carlo, and the final bonfire. A historic event in Lomellina, in the province of Pavia, which has had the Pierina as its symbol for half a century.
The 2025 edition of the Candia Carnival re-enacted the traditional rite: the retrieval of the Bella Pierina from the Peschiera district, the 17th-century costume parade through the town streets, the trial of the Pierina by the company I Magatlòn in Piazza San Carlo, and the concluding bonfire. A popular festival deeply rooted in the community of Candia Lomellina, an expression of the Carnival culture of Lomellina, in the province of Pavia.
