Canavese Roots, Horizons of Egypt - Celebrations for the 250th Anniversary of the Birth of Bernardino Drovetti

The figure of Bernardino Drovetti, a native of Barbania and founder of the Egyptian Museum of Turin's collection, has long been a source of pride for the Canavese community. During 2025, the Municipality of Barbania, together with the Pro Loco and the Barbaniese Cultural Group, worked on building the celebratory project for the 250th anniversary of the consul's birth, which later culminated in the May 2026 event.

In the absence of a structured edition in 2025, the memory of Drovetti remained linked to his birthplace in the town's historic center and to the educational materials promoted by local associations, in anticipation of the major celebrations of 2026.
