Campobasso Carnival – The Mesaiola Parade

In 2025, the Carnival of Campobasso renewed its most characteristic tradition with the Mesaiola parade. The twelve characters of the months, in period costume, paraded through the historic center from Piazza Municipio to Piazza San Francesco, accompanied by papier-mâché floats from local artisans and traditional Molise masks. The festival concluded, as is customary, with the burning of King Carnival and the effigy of Quarantena (Lent).
