Edition 2025 — Campidoctor
Campidoctor 2025 at the Villa of Maxentius
The 2025 edition took place on Sunday, March 23rd, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the archaeological complex of the Villa of Maxentius at Via Appia Antica 153, in Rome. The day opened at 10:00 AM with a guided tour of the site conducted by an archaeologist from the Capitoline Superintendency, as part of the Archeologia in Comune series, with limited spots and mandatory reservation at 060608.
At 11:30 AM, the Tubilustrium was celebrated, the ancient rite of purification that marked the beginning of military activities, while at 3:00 PM, the recruits took the solemn oath of loyalty of the Sacramentum. Throughout the day, re-enactors performed military maneuvers of an authentic 4th-century Roman unit, illustrating the evolution of weaponry and aspects of the soldier's daily life, from clothing to diet. For children, the Ad signa activity was offered again, with child-friendly exercises. Admission and all activities were free.
