Camerino's exclusive sweet celebrated on Epiphany Day
The Camerino Nougat Festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the winter calendar in the Municipality of Camerino, in the Province of Macerata, in the heart of the Marche region and the Sibillini Mountains. Every year, on Epiphany Day (January 6th), the university city celebrates its most exclusive product, bringing a sweet conclusion to the long Christmas season that enlivens the town since the end of November.
The heart of the festival is the Camerino nougat, a specialty made from almonds and honey with ancient roots: the first document attesting to the use of the term "torrone" in the Marche region dates back to 1793. Since 2020, Camerino nougat has been protected by the De.C.O. trademark (Denominazione Comunale di Origine), a recognition that certifies its link to the territory and local tradition.
The most anticipated moment is the measurement and cutting of the very long nougat produced by Casa Francucci, the company that put Camerino on the Guinness World Records in 2014 with the "longest nougat in the world". Recent editions have exceeded 200 meters in length: a golden ribbon of sweetness that is measured in front of the public and then cut and offered for tasting to everyone present.
The festival is not just about taste: the Sottocorte Village, the city's commercial and event area, comes alive all afternoon with music, entertainment, and shows suitable for the whole family. Over the years, the program has hosted themed entertainment, dance performances by the Centro Studi Danza Joy Dance, magic shows, celebrity guests, and the awards ceremony for the Trofeo della Befana, a sporting event organized by ASD Camerino-Castelraimondo. The traditional Epiphany concert, performed by the Banda Cittร di Camerino, is also a highlight.
Organized by the Municipality of Camerino with the Pro Loco and numerous local associations, the Nougat Festival represents a moment of celebration and revitalization for a community severely affected by the 2016 earthquake. The event is part of the city's Christmas program and promotes, along with nougat, the identity and hospitality of one of the most beautiful villages in the Marche hinterland. Admission is free.
The XXIV edition of the Camerino Nougat Festival was held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, starting at 4:00 PM, at the Sottocorte Village, as the concluding event of the Christmas calendar "Quest'Anno il Natale รจ aโฆ Camerino".
The traditional measurement and cutting of the nougat from Casa Francucci was the centerpiece of the day, followed by a tasting offered to the public. The afternoon was enlivened by music and shows, including dance performances by the Centro Studi Danza Joy Dance and a Christmas-themed magic show. There was also space for the awards ceremony of the 12th Trofeo della Befana by ASD Camerino-Castelraimondo. In case of bad weather, the Palazzetto Orsini of CUS Camerino was the alternative venue.
