Recent editions of the festival

In the seasons leading up to the 2026 edition in the square, the Caltagirone Short FilmFest strengthened its identity as a short film festival. The third edition, from July 12 to 14, 2024, enlivened the historic center of Caltagirone for three evenings with screenings and meetings: among the winners, "Spring Waltz" by Stefano Lorenzi and Clelia Catalano as best short film, Daniele Ciprì for directing "La bottega dei bottoni," and a special mention for social value to "Bob and Weave" by Adelmo Togliani; the award for best Sicilian short went to "7 secondi" by Filippo Susinno.

The fourth edition, on January 22 and 23, 2026, at the Cine-Teatro Politeama, featured the "Premio Giovani Visioni" section with six short films judged by local high school students, and a free-entry gala evening hosted by Ruggero Sardo, with guest Giò Di Tonno. Awards included the City of Caltagirone Prize, the Antonio Grasso Prize, and the Baroque Prize.
