Edition 2025 — CAI Chestnut Festival

The 2025 edition of the CAI Chestnut Festival took place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, confirming its status as the most anticipated autumn event for the Isola del Gran Sasso section of the Italian Alpine Club. As per a tradition established over thirty-five years ago, the day combined a hike to one of the mountain huts with a celebration featuring roasted chestnuts and traditional Abruzzo products, set against the backdrop of the colorful Gran Sasso forests.

2025 Chestnut Festival

The 2025 CAI Chestnut Festival was held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, organized by the Isola del Gran Sasso section of the Italian Alpine Club. In line with tradition, participants reached one of the section's mountain huts amidst the autumn beech forests of the Gran Sasso, at the foot of the Corno Grande's Paretone.

At the refuge, the customary celebration took place with roasted chestnuts, bruschetta with ventricina, tajarill e fasciul, grilled sausages, and local wine. The event, open to members and non-members with advance booking, confirmed the Chestnut Festival as one of the most popular moments in the section's hiking calendar, in the heart of the Gran Sasso National Park, in the province of Teramo.
