Four days of Celtic music and culture at the Textile Museum
BustoFolk is the interceltic festival of Busto Arsizio, in the province of Varese, and one of the most important events dedicated to Celtic culture in Lombardy and Italy. Promoted by the Gens d'Ys Irish Dance Academy, it takes place in the setting of the Textile Museum and for four days transforms the area into a village where the musical and cultural traditions of the Celtic peoples are revived.
The heart of the festival is the concerts of Irish, Breton, and Scottish music, accompanied by folk dance performances. A Celtic craft market, food stalls with craft beer, cider, and liqueurs, theatrical performances, and literary events revolve around the music. An atmosphere that attracts Celtic culture enthusiasts from all over Italy.
BustoFolk is also known for two initiatives that have become a tradition: the Celtic Contest Bodypainting, a themed body painting competition, and the Pagine Folk literary competition, dedicated to stories inspired by the Celtic world. Both change themes every year, involving artists and writers in a participatory dimension that enriches the programme.
With over twenty years of history, BustoFolk has established itself as one of the leading Celtic festivals in Italy, capable of bringing musicians and groups from the Celtic lands of Europe to Busto Arsizio and offering the public an authentic immersion in a fascinating and charming culture.
The 25th edition of BustoFolk, celebrating the festival's 25th anniversary, is held at the Textile Museum in Busto Arsizio from September 17 to 20, 2026. Four days of Irish, Breton, and Scottish music concerts, folk dances, Celtic crafts, theatre, literature, craft beer, cider, and liqueurs. Among the main events are the 10th Celtic Contest Bodypainting (Sunday, September 20, theme 'The Mountain') and the 11th Pagine Folk literary competition (awards ceremony September 19, theme 'The Mountain').
The festival takes place at the Museo del Tessile, via Volta 6, Busto Arsizio (VA). Organisational office: via Confalonieri 4.
Busto Arsizio is served by the FS and Ferrovie Nord stations and the A8 Milan-Varese motorway; Malpensa Airport is a few kilometres away.
