Edition 2025 — Brucia Re Carnevale

In 2025, on Shrove Tuesday evening, Pieve Fosciana once again renewed the tradition of the Brucia Re Carnevale. The King Carnival puppet paraded through the streets of the Garfagnana village, accompanied by masked revelers and residents, before being set on fire on the parvis of the Church of San Giovanni Battista, to the sound of the great bell marking the start of Lent.

The 2025 edition of the Brucia Re Carnevale in Pieve Fosciana (Lucca) took place on Shrove Tuesday evening, honoring the centuries-old ritual that closes the Carnival period in Garfagnana every year.

The King Carnival puppet, prepared by local volunteers and children, was carried in a procession through the streets to the parvis of the Church of San Giovanni Battista, where it was burned with the community in attendance. The tolling of the great bell signaled, as per tradition, the beginning of Lent.
