Edition 2025 — Bonfire of the Giöbia

The 2025 edition of the Bonfire of the Giöbia renewed the ancient fire ritual of the Olona Valley in Gorla Maggiore (VA), with the large evening bonfire in Piazza Martiri, food stalls with polenta and bruscitt, mulled wine, and the accompaniment of the musical band, bringing the community together on the coldest night of the year.

The 2025 Bonfire of the Giöbia confirmed the strength of a centuries-old tradition of the Olona Valley in Gorla Maggiore. In Piazza Martiri, the community gathered around the large evening bonfire, preceded by the opening of the food stall with typical Lombard winter dishes, from polenta and bruscitt to mulled wine. The lighting of the fire, accompanied by the musical band, renewed the propitiatory ritual that banishes the cold and negativity, in an atmosphere of shared celebration and warmth.
