Edition 2025 — Bonfire of Saint Anastasius

In January 2025, Acquaviva d'Isernia celebrated its patron saint Anastasius with the traditional Bonfire: the large juniper bonfire lit on the evening of the 21st and burning until morning, followed on the 22nd by the solemn Mass and the procession with the saint's statue.

The 2025 edition of the Bonfire of Saint Anastasius confirmed the strength of this Alto Molise tradition. The young people of Acquaviva d'Isernia collected juniper branches in the countryside and piled them at the foot of the church, creating the large evening bonfire on January 21st. On the patron saint's day, the 22nd, the wake-up call with the band, the solemn Holy Mass, and the procession took place, in the spirit of a devotion that intertwines faith and ancient peasant roots.
