Edition 2025 — Bonfire of Brotherhood

In January 2025, before the twinning with Agnone and Gambatesa, Carlantino celebrated the feast of St. Anthony Abbot according to the tradition of the fire rituals of the Monti Dauni. Around January 17th, as in neighboring villages, the great propitiatory bonfire marked the transition toward the Carnival season, amidst popular devotion and conviviality.

Before the 2026 edition, which introduced the Bonfire of Brotherhood formula with the 'ndocciatori of Agnone, Carlantino celebrated the St. Anthony Abbot anniversary as part of the ancient tradition of the fire rituals of the Subappennino Dauno. In mid-January, as in the other villages of the Monti Dauni, the fire of the patron saint of animals was lit to propitiate the year and bring the community together for an evening of celebration.

For centuries, in this corner of Puglia on the border with Molise, the bonfire of St. Anthony Abbot has represented a moment of strong collective identity: a simple and powerful ritual that, in 2026, would open up to the encounter with the Molise communities of Agnone and Gambatesa.
