Edition 2025 — Bolzano Festival Bozen

The 21st edition of the Bolzano Festival Bozen was held from August 5th to September 7th, 2025, featuring over 30 events. The festival hosted the European Union Youth Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Mahler Academy conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner, the Antiqua early music section, and the final stages of the 65th Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition.

Bolzano Festival Bozen 2025

The 2025 edition of the Bolzano Festival Bozen, the twenty-first, took place from August 5th to September 7th, 2025, with over thirty events in Bolzano. The opening concert on August 5th at Parco delle Semirurali featured the Haydn Orchestra conducted by Roberto Molinelli.

Orchestras and conductors

The Mahler Academy, under the artistic direction of Sir John Eliot Gardiner, focused on the Romantic repertoire of the 19th and 20th centuries, with a special emphasis on Jean Sibelius, opening its courses to vocal lieder performance for the first time. The European Union Youth Orchestra featured Pablo Ferrández with Vasily Petrenko (August 7th) and Alina Ibragimova with Iván Fischer (August 14th), while the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester featured Renaud Capuçon conducted by Manfred Honeck (August 19th and 22nd).

The Busoni Competition

The final stages of the 65th Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition were held from August 27th to September 7th, with 34 finalists. The "Finalissima" on September 7th at the Teatro Comunale, with the Haydn Orchestra conducted by Olli Mustonen, was broadcast on RAI 5. The program was completed by the Antiqua early music section (August 10th–24th), directed by Claudio Astronio.
