The first Blue Flag in the history of Formia

On May 13, 2025, the Foundation for Environmental Education awarded the Blue Flag to the city of Formia for the first time, rewarding the beaches of Gianola and Vindicio for water quality, sustainable management, and services. A few weeks later, on Monday, June 30, 2025, the city celebrated the recognition with an evening on the first public beach of Vindicio.

Mayor Gianluca Taddeo presented the official flags to the beach club operators, along with commemorative t-shirts and information panels to be displayed on the beaches. The evening was hosted by Corrado Gentile; the musical portion featured a DJ set by Tamashi and a performance by Bevitori Longevi, who turned the ceremony into a popular party that lasted until late in the evening.

Beyond the celebration, the evening was dedicated to the theme of protecting the sea and beaches, with an appeal for shared responsibility: the Blue Flag, the organizers reminded, must be won back every year.
