The thirteenth Biotech Week in Naples

From September 29 to October 6, 2025, Biotech Week celebrated its thirteenth edition with about a hundred free events distributed throughout Italy, including conferences, workshops, guided tours, webinars, and outreach meetings. At Città della Scienza in Naples, the heart of the event was the weekend of October 4 and 5, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, based at the Corporea Infopoint.

The highlight was the second edition of Biotech adventure: genes at work in the BioForFun laboratory, set up in the OPEN Lab on the ground floor of Corporea: under the guidance of Professor Rosanna del Gaudio and a group of students from the Biology and Biological Sciences courses of the University of Naples Federico II, visitors were able to extract DNA and observe the synthesis of recombinant proteins up close.

On weekdays, activities were reserved for school groups: on October 1, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a workshop proposed the construction of a three-dimensional DNA model with special LEGO bricks and the creation of a colored origami helix to take home. The calendar was completed by Biotechnology in the classroom, a refresher course for middle school teachers on the effects of antibiotics and probiotics on bacterial and cell cultures, with experiments that can be replicated in the classroom.

Also on the calendar: «Biotechnology in the classroom», a refresher course for middle school teachers on antibiotics, probiotics, and bacterial and cell cultures.
