Edition 2025 — Bigolada
In 2025, the Bigolada De.Co. renewed its centuries-old tradition in Castel d'Ario: on Ash Wednesday, quintals of bigoli with sardines were distributed for free in the square, along with the King Bìgol and Queen Sardèla competition, stalls, a funfair, and tours of the Scaliger Castle.
The 2025 edition of the Bigolada confirmed the ritual that has been enlivening Castel d'Ario for over 170 years on Ash Wednesday: the cooking of bigoli with sardines in the square and their free distribution, the light-hearted speed competition that crowns the King Bìgol and Queen Sardèla, and the surrounding stalls, funfair, and guided tours of the castle. One of the oldest and most characteristic festivals in the Province of Mantua.
