Between Allegory and Heraldry

In 2025, the Comitato Palio di Castell'Alfero brought a highly original theme to the Palio di Asti historical pageant: medieval bestiaries, ancient volumes in which animals, whether real or fantastic, became moral and heraldic symbols. The pageant, with its costumes and masks, stood out in an event that saw over 1,200 participants representing the 21 districts, villages, and towns involved, on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the Palio. The work was awarded the prestigious Pergamena d'Autore and the Soroptimist Special Prize, recognitions that inspired the exhibition set up at the Castello dei Conti Amico.
