The 2025 edition

The 2025 call for the new playwriting competition at the Nuovo Teatro San Paolo in Rome closed on October 31, 2025, confirming the well-established structure: short texts in Italian, published or unpublished, submitted for free via an online form by authors of any nationality.

The prizes offered were 500 euros net for the best short play and 250 euros net for the best monologue. As per tradition, the works chosen by the artistic board did not stop at selection: they were entrusted to directors and actors and brought to the Viale di San Paolo stage during dedicated evenings open to the public, with a quality jury composed of authors, directors, actors, and theatre critics called to evaluate the performances.
