Battle of Lake Trasimene – Historical Re-enactment 'Tuoro 217 BC'

In 2025, Tuoro sul Trasimeno continued to celebrate the Battle of Lake Trasimene, the clash of 217 BC between Hannibal and the legions of Consul Gaius Flaminius. Among the events, the project 'On Hannibal's Trail from Tunisia to Tuoro' brought scholars and international institutions to the Accademia Theatre, with presentations on the historical and tactical significance of the battle. Among the speakers was Prof. Giovanni Brizzi from the University of Bologna, who has been overseeing the scientific reconstruction of the re-enactment for years. This research work fuels the historical re-enactment that annually revives the camps, costumes, and tactics of antiquity in Tuoro.

The 2025 program included the conference and cultural initiatives of the 'On Hannibal's Trail from Tunisia to Tuoro' project at the Accademia Theatre, with contributions from academics and international scholars, and the usual historical re-enactment activities curated by Legio I Taurus and the Suadela Association.
