Batailles de Reines – Gressan Elimination

In 2025, Gressan was once again the scene of one of the eliminations of the Regional Contest of the Batailles de Reines, the ancient peasant tradition featuring Aosta Valley breed cows. After the official morning weighing, the cows faced each other divided into weight categories, in non-bloody clashes that captivated the audience. The winners, awarded with a bouquet of flowers, earned points towards the race for the regional final, held in October at the Croix-Noire arena in Aosta. The municipality of Gressan, always among the most represented in the Batailles for the number of qualified reines, confirmed its strong connection with this identity practice of the Aosta Valley.
