Batailles de Reines – Gressan Elimination

In 2025 too, Gressan was the scene of one of the eliminations of the Regional Contest of the Batailles de Reines, the ancient peasant tradition featuring Aostan Red cows. After the official morning weighing, the cows faced each other divided into weight categories, in non-violent clashes that enthralled the audience. The winners, awarded the flower bouquet, earned points useful for the race to the regional final, held in October in the Croix-Noire arena in Aosta. The municipality of Gressan, always among the most represented in the Batailles for the number of qualified reines, confirmed its strong bond with this identity practice of the Aosta Valley.
