Edition 2025 — Bareback Summer Races

During the summer of 2025, the Madonna di San Pietro Equestrian Theme Park in Piancastagnaio hosted days of bareback horse racing as part of the annual equestrian calendar leading up to the Palio on August 18th. Promoted by the Association of Palio Horse Owners, Trainers, and Breeders in collaboration with the Magistrato delle Contrade, the races featured thoroughbred horses and jockeys in multiple heats, confirming the vitality of the Amiata equestrian tradition.

In the summer of 2025, bareback horse races returned to the track at the Madonna di San Pietro Equestrian Theme Park in Piancastagnaio, in the heart of Mount Amiata and the province of Siena. These summer days, part of the preparation circuit for the Palio on August 18th, were organized by the Association of Palio Horse Owners, Trainers, and Breeders together with the Magistrato delle Contrade and the four districts: Castello, Borgo, Coro, and Voltaia.

On the park's track — a facility inaugurated in 2023 and highly regarded by jockeys and owners — thoroughbred horses competed in multiple heats, ridden bareback in accordance with the tradition of Tuscan palios. The event attracted enthusiasts and families alike, consolidating the Equestrian Park's role as the hub of local equestrian life.
