Bareback Horse Races – May 1st

On May 1st, 2025, Piancastagnaio renewed its appointment with the Bareback Horse Races at the Madonna di San Pietro Equestrian Theme Park. The regulations provided for a maximum of 42 horses not affiliated with the contrade, in addition to the eight spots reserved for the local contrade Castello, Borgo, Coro, and Voltaia, for a total of fifty horses at the start.

Registrations opened in April, with a deposit per horse as per regulations. The event, organized by the Municipality of Piancastagnaio together with the Magistrato delle Contrade, the Pro Loco, and the Misericordia, confirmed the success of the first 2024 edition, enlivening the day with races, spectators, and moments of conviviality at the foot of Mount Amiata.
