Edition 2025 — Teatro dei Barbuti
Forty years of stage
The fortieth edition, presented in mid-July 2025, was both a review and a celebration: «History of a stage» retraced four decades of programming in the square of the old town of Salerno. The programme opened on August 2nd with «Porco — Ulisse incontra Circe», featuring Anna Rita Vitolo and the Teatro Grimaldello, directed by Antonio Grimaldi, and continued on August 7th with Melville's «Moby Dick» adapted by Corradino Pellecchia and directed by Andrea Carraro. On September 7th, «Address Unknown» by Kathrine Kressmann Taylor was performed, also directed by Carraro.
The autumn section «La notte dei Barbuti», from September 12th to October 3rd at the Apollonia Hub, hosted, among others, «Little women must not die», freely inspired by Louisa May Alcott's novel, «Other Words» based on texts by Giorgio Gaber directed by Anna Nisivoccia with live music by Rocco Vertuccio, «Messi-cana» directed by Antonio Grimaldi, and «Voices from Hell» by the Compagnia del Giullare. As always, performances began at 9:15 PM at Largo Barbuti and at 9:00 PM at the hub, with the support of the Municipality of Salerno and the Campania Region.
