Edition 2025 — Balestro del Girifalco

In 2025, the May edition of the Balestro del Girifalco once again brought Massa Marittima to life with the challenge between the three historic Terzieri—Borgo, Cittannova, and Cittavecchia. The Italian-style crossbow competition was held in Piazza Garibaldi, preceded by the historical pageant in medieval costume through the streets of the center and the performance of the flag-wavers.

May 2025 Edition

The 2025 spring edition of the Balestro del Girifalco confirmed the large public turnout that characterizes this historical re-enactment in Massa Marittima. The twenty-four crossbowmen of the three Terzieri faced off in the girifalco shooting competition in Piazza Garibaldi, vying for the palio painted for the occasion. The historical pageant with over 150 participants in costume and the performance of the Company of Flag-wavers and Musicians preceded the competition, bringing the center of Massa Marittima (Grosseto) back to the atmosphere of the medieval Free Commune.
