A theatre season in the hat-making village

Back to the Theatre! is the prose review that animates the Teatro Italia in Montappone, a small municipality in the Province of Fermo, in the Marche region, famous worldwide for its manufacturing tradition linked to straw hats. The title of the review itself recalls the return of the public to the hall after the long and careful restoration of the historic municipal theatre, brought back to life and returned to the community as a space for meeting, culture, and live performance.

The Teatro Italia, a restored treasure chest

The Teatro Italia is the beating heart of Montappone's social and cultural life. The building has undergone an impressive recovery project, completed in autumn 2024 thanks to funding of approximately €492,000 from the National Complementary Plan: brought up to standard with new systems, flooring, renovated dressing rooms, wooden wall coverings, accessible services, and a modern control room. The result is an intimate and welcoming hall, ideal for a direct and close relationship between actors and spectators.

A programme of laughter and reflection

The programming of Back to the Theatre! alternates big names in national comedy with companies and performers from the Marche region, with a keen eye also on younger audiences. Among the most recent events:

• Leonardo Manera with Homo Modernus, a comical and biting reflection on contemporary daily life, to open the curtain;
• Menomale che ci siete voi, a brilliant all-female comedy starring Angelica Marcantoni, Deuriana Cardoso, and Angela Guerriero, which ironically tells a story of self-affirmation through sisterhood, freedom of choice, and solidarity;
• Personology, with Marche actors Lorenzo Marziali and Stefano Tosoni, the story of two profoundly different brothers grappling with identity, family ties, and complex emotional dynamics;
• a show for children and families, to close the season with lightness and imagination.
