The theatre season of the Teatro Italia in Montappone
Back to the Theatre! is the prose review that animates the Teatro Italia in Montappone, a small municipality in the Province of Fermo, in the Marche region, famous worldwide for its manufacturing tradition linked to straw hats. The title of the review itself recalls the return of the public to the hall after the long and careful restoration of the historic municipal theatre, brought back to life and returned to the community as a space for meeting, culture, and live performance.
The Teatro Italia is the beating heart of Montappone's social and cultural life. The building has undergone an impressive recovery project, completed in autumn 2024 thanks to funding of approximately €492,000 from the National Complementary Plan: brought up to standard with new systems, flooring, renovated dressing rooms, wooden wall coverings, accessible services, and a modern control room. The result is an intimate and welcoming hall, ideal for a direct and close relationship between actors and spectators.
The programming of Back to the Theatre! alternates big names in national comedy with companies and performers from the Marche region, with a keen eye also on younger audiences. Among the most recent events:
Attending a show in Montappone also means discovering an authentic village in the Marche hills, where the tradition of hat craftsmanship coexists with a lively season of cultural events. The Municipality of Montappone promotes the review as an opportunity to bring citizens closer to the theatre and to attract visitors from neighbouring municipalities in the Province of Fermo, in a familiar and intimate atmosphere that is the hallmark of this programme.
The Back to the Theatre! 2026 season, promoted within the Municipality of Montappone, opened on Saturday, February 21st, with Leonardo Manera and his Homo Modernus, a comical reflection on modernity. It continued on March 7th with Menomale che ci siete voi, an all-female comedy starring Angelica Marcantoni, Deuriana Cardoso, and Angela Guerriero, and on March 21st with Personology, starring Marche actors Lorenzo Marziali and Stefano Tosoni. The review concluded on April 12th with a show for children and families, Il giro del mago in ottanta mondi.
Noteworthy is the opening performance by Leonardo Manera, a well-known face in Italian television comedy, and the presence of actors from the Marche region like Lorenzo Marziali and Stefano Tosoni in Personology. The closing show for families confirmed the programme's aim to engage all generations.
The shows are held at the Teatro Italia, in the historic centre of Montappone (FM), in the Marche region.
