Edition 2025 — Avenza Medievale

The twelfth edition of Avenza Medievale took place on Saturday, July 19, and Sunday, July 20, 2025, with an edition dedicated to popular theater and Commedia dell'Arte. Beneath the Torre di Castruccio, between via Menconi and the village squares, jesters, minstrels, artisans, magicians, and fire-eaters performed, attracting thousands of spectators over two evenings of free-admission festivities.

Avenza Medievale 2025

The twelfth edition of Avenza Medievale was held on July 19 and 20, 2025, from 7:00 PM until midnight. The theme of the year was dedicated to popular theater, featuring jesters and minstrels, traveling companies, and comedians inspired by the masks of the Commedia dell'Arte.

Along via Menconi, in the garden of Casa Pellini, and in the squares of Finelli, Lucetti, and della Scuderia, 13th-century military encampments, historical dances, medieval fencing, demonstrations of dyeing and weaving, wooden games for children, and midnight fire shows came to life. Among the artists were jugglers, theater groups, and choirs dedicated to ancient music. The event, organized by the Pro Loco Avenza sulla Francigena with the patronage of the Municipality of Carrara, saw a large turnout of the public.
