Astiludio Historical Festival of Volterra

The 2025 Astiludio Historical Festival brought the great flag-wavers' tournament back to Piazza dei Priori in Volterra, confirming the event as one of Tuscany's leading historical manifestations. The program featured the departure of the processions from the city gates (Porta a Selci, Porta Fiorentina, Porta San Francesco, and Porta all'Arco), the assembly of the groups, and the afternoon challenge.

Four companies competed for the Guiderdone: the Società dei Terzieri di Massa Marittima (GR), the Gruppo Sbandieratori Gioco della Torre di Ripa di Seravezza (LU), the Compagnia dell'Orso Città di Pistoia, and the Gruppo Storico Sbandieratori Città di Volterra. Victory went to the company from Massa Marittima, applauded by the numerous supporters who filled the stands. A special award was also presented to Piero Fiumi for his contribution to the Volterra group.

Sunday, September 7, 2025 — Piazza dei Priori

• 3:00 PM — Departure of the processions from the city gates and parade through the city center
• 3:20 PM — Assembly and presentation of the groups
• 3:45 PM — Start of the tournament (performances of about 30 minutes for each company)
• 7:00 PM — Proclamation of the winner
