The village that becomes a workshop: over 200 artisans at work in the alleys of Cison
Cison di Valmarino, in the province of Treviso, is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, nestled among the Prosecco hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO heritage site. Every August, for nine days, its historic center transforms into a large open-air workshop thanks to Artigianato Vivo, the event that since 1981 the Pro Loco has dedicated to manual skills. In 2026, the event will reach its 45th edition.
Every corner of the village becomes an open-air workshop where over 200 artisans — masters of wood, iron, ceramics, leather, and paper — work before the public's eyes. Many open their temporary workshops to those who want to try their hand at the crafts, without shortcuts. It is a way to bring the public closer to forms of artistic expression often overshadowed by mass production.
Artigianato Vivo is not just a market. The program features dozens of live music concerts (about fifty in the 2025 edition), interactive workshops for all ages, cultural exhibitions, and numerous meetings that liven up the village. Along the route, in Piazza Roma, Borgo Capretta, and Case Marian, food stalls offer traditional dishes with a particular focus on local products: cured meats, cheeses, wines, and rustic desserts.
The setting of Cison di Valmarino, among the Treviso hills recognized as a World Heritage site, makes Artigianato Vivo much more than a festival: it is an immersion in the material culture and landscape of the hilly Veneto region. An event that attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year and has become a benchmark for artistic craftsmanship in Italy.
The 45th edition of Artigianato Vivo returns to Cison di Valmarino from August 8 to 16, 2026. For nine days, the village's historic center transforms into an open-air workshop with over 200 artisans working live, interactive workshops, live music concerts for all ages, and food stalls with local products.
The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Cison di Valmarino APS, confirms its formula: live demonstrations of craft trades, cultural and musical entertainment spread throughout the squares and courtyards, and the unique setting of the UNESCO World Heritage Prosecco hills.
The 2026 edition takes place over nine days with the village transformed into an open-air workshop.
The detailed day-by-day program will be published on the official website artigianatovivo.it in the weeks preceding the event.
