Contemporary art that enters the home, in the heart of Jesi
In the heart of the historic center of Jesi, in the province of Ancona, Arte Domiciliata is an exhibition project that changes the way we look at contemporary art. The idea, simple and radical at the same time, comes from the Jesi-based architect and artist Giancarlo Ercoli: to remove the artwork from the neutrality of conventional exhibition space and return it to a more intimate, secluded, and relational dimension. His house-studio at Via Mura Orientali 4 thus becomes a place of meeting, listening, and passage: not a simple container, but a lived-in environment where one can approach art without distance, in a direct relationship between artwork, word, memory, and gaze.
The project is rooted in the experience of Domus Ercoli, the exhibitions that Ercoli himself hosted in his home as early as 2019, inspired by Northern European models where private homes open their doors to art. After the break imposed by the pandemic, the initiative was reborn and structured into cycles of events: each meeting brings together the works of invited artists with those of the host artist, in a dialogue that is renewed each time. The exhibitions are held on weekends, in the afternoon and evening, always with free admission, and are accompanied by catalogs and critical texts.
More than an exhibition, Arte Domiciliata is an experience: you enter a home, meet the artists, and talk about the works face-to-face. It's a way to bring aesthetic dialogue back into lived spaces, shortening the distance between the artwork and the observer. For those visiting Jesi and the Vallesina area, it's a rare opportunity to discover contemporary art from the Marche region in a domestic and welcoming setting, far from the logic of large galleries.
The events take place at Giancarlo Ercoli's house-studio, at Via Mura Orientali 4 in Jesi (AN). For information and to arrange a visit, you can contact 371 1165094 or email [email protected].
In 2026, the Arte Domiciliata project in Jesi presents «Trame dell'interiorità. The works of Giancarlo Ercoli in the verses of Gabriella Cinti», the exhibition that dialogues the plastic and visual research of the host artist with the poetic word of Gabriella Cinti. Ercoli's works — constructed with metallic threads, gauze, papers, frames, tears, painted surfaces, photographic fragments, and small golden nuclei — resonate with the verses of the poetry collection «Prima» (Puntoacapo Editrice), generating, as has been written, «multi-perspectival visions in intimate resonance».
The exhibition is held in the artist's house-studio at Via Mura Orientali 4, in the historic center of Jesi (province of Ancona, Marche), and continues the 2026 cycle of the project, after the spring stop «Florilegi della Soglia». Admission is free.
