Edition 2025 — Armenian Genocide Commemoration
The 110th anniversary in Rome
In 2025, the Day of Remembrance for the Armenian people marked 110 years since the start of the 1915 deportations. The anniversary held greater significance than usual throughout Italy, with ceremonies, liturgies, and meetings promoted by Armenian communities and friendship associations.
In Rome, the focal point remained the Piazza Lorenzini garden in Municipio XI, dedicated to the victims of the Metz Yeghern and inaugurated in 2010. On that occasion, the commemoration was held with its characteristic sobriety: flowers before the plaque, speeches by authorities, prayer, and reflection, with free participation from local residents and those who wished to join.
