The historic garden suspended over the Sibillini opens its terraces
The Tronelli Garden in Montefalcone Appennino, in the heart of the province of Fermo, is one of the most surprising places in the Marche hinterland. Created in the 1920s as part of a 17th-century historic building, it stands on the upper part of a rocky spur about one hundred and ten meters high, with two natural caves at its base. From here, the view opens onto the Monti Sibillini and the Aso valley, in a panorama that has made this village one of the most evocative in the Marche region.
Owned by the Municipality and adjacent to a building used as an Environmental Education Center, the garden has been recognized for years among the "I Luoghi del Cuore" (Places of the Heart) by the FAI and is in the process of official recognition as a historic garden.
Appuntamento in Giardino is the major national event promoted by APGI - Association of Parks and Gardens of Italy in collaboration with Ales S.p.A., which every year, on the first weekend of June, opens parks and gardens of all sizes and values to the public. The initiative takes place simultaneously with Rendez-vous aux jardins, the European event dedicated to gardens involving over twenty countries.
The 2026 edition is held on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June and revolves around the theme "The View", an invitation to multiply gazes on the garden to decipher its complexity and tell its fragility, as well as its cultural and environmental significance. Approximately three hundred gardens in twenty regions are involved throughout Italy, with over four hundred and twenty events in total.
In the Marche region, ten gardens are participating with fourteen events, from Pesaro to Fermo and down to the Piceno area. Among these is the Tronelli Garden in Montefalcone Appennino, which opens its panoramic terraces to visitors. The widespread openings of the APGI network generally include guided tours, readings, meetings, workshops, and musical performances designed to showcase the history and botany of the places.
The visit to the garden naturally fits into the discovery of Montefalcone Appennino, a small Municipality in the Sibillini known for its stone village, the Museum Complex, and a lively summer cultural season. The opening for "Appuntamento in Giardino" offers an opportunity to admire one of the most expansive views in southern Marche, amidst nature, landscape, and heritage.
The national APGI event returns on June 6th and 7th, 2026 with the theme "The View", simultaneously with the European Rendez-vous aux jardins. Approximately three hundred gardens in twenty regions will open across Italy, with over four hundred and twenty events.
