Edition 2025 — Appia Day
Appia Day 2025: ten years of Regina Viarum
The tenth edition of Appia Day took place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October 2025 and had a particular symbolic value: exactly ten years after the first edition in 2016 and the first major celebration after the inscription of the Via Appia on the UNESCO World Heritage list, which took place in 2024.
In Rome, the programme brought together guided tours with archaeologists and historians, the ArcheoGRAB — the 20-kilometre bicycle tour on the Roman stretch — shows and historical re-enactments, outdoor theatre and live music, educational workshops for children, special openings of monuments and archaeological areas normally closed, walks and archeotours, exhibitions, and cultural meetings. Outside of Lazio, the event involved Campania, Basilicata, and Puglia: in the province of Brindisi and in the Sannio region, the superintendencies opened dozens of sites, with a programme that in the Caserta and Benevento areas alone counted fifty-seven appointments. All activities were free.
