Ancient Festival of Salionze

The 2025 edition of the Ancient Festival of Salionze took place in mid-July in the hamlet of Salionze, in Valeggio sul Mincio (VR), confirming the formula that intertwines the village festival with historical re-enactment.

For four days, the food stalls, open from 8 PM, offered traditional dishes, grilled meats, wines, and beer, accompanied by evenings of live music and dancing and a non-competitive cycling race. The climax was the grand historical re-enactment in costume of the meeting between Pope Leo the Great and Attila, King of the Huns, staged with about fifty extras and forty knights in a Hunnic encampment, featuring banquets, archery, and duels, concluded by a spectacular fireworks display. The organization was handled by the association I Salionzesi.
