Ancient Fair and Saint Peter Festival

The 2025 edition of the Ancient Fair and Saint Peter Festival was held from June 27 to 29 in Casalvecchio Siculo, in the province of Messina. For three days, the ancient village of Cristuri, at the foot of the Abbey of Santi Pietro e Paolo d'Agrò, was transformed into a large open-air tavern.

The protagonist, as per tradition, was the mutton cooked in the oven and on the grill, accompanied by local products from the Agrò Valley. The program alternated between gastronomic and religious moments: the parish choir festival in the abbey, musical events with local singer-songwriters, the solemn Holy Mass in honor of Saints Peter and Paul, and entertainment activities for families. On Sunday morning, the fair opened with the sale of mutton for takeaway, confirming the strong popular appeal of an event that has lasted for over five centuries.
