Edition 2025 — Assumption Procession

In 2025 too, on Ferragosto, Gressoney-La-Trinité celebrated the Assumption procession: after the evening Mass, a torchlight procession wound through the historic centre with some women in traditional Walser costume and the Alpine Guides carrying the statue of the Madonna, in an evening of faith and Alpine tradition concluded by the parish priest's blessing.

The 2025 edition of the Assumption Procession renewed one of the most beloved rituals of the Gressoney-La-Trinité summer. On the evening of August 15th, the community gathered in the church square for Mass, followed by the evocative torchlight procession among the Walser houses of the historic centre.

As tradition dictates, some women wore the typical Gressoney costume, and the Alpine Guides carried the statue of the Madonna on their shoulders, celebrating their activity on the mountains of Monte Rosa. The evening concluded with the parish priest's blessing, in an atmosphere of intense emotion in the village of the upper Lys Valley, in the province of Aosta.
