Edition 2025 — Along the Ancient Paths

The 3rd edition of "Along the Ancient Paths of Tradition" took place in Pescasseroli on Saturday, October 4th, and Sunday, October 5th, 2025. Two days dedicated to transhumance: film screenings at the Cinema Ettore Scola, a roundtable on the theme of "man and the sheep tracks" at the Park's Nature Center, and a guided trek from Barrea to Alfedena along the ancient sheep tracks, following in the footsteps of shepherds and their flocks.

Saturday, October 4 — cinema and conference

The 3rd edition opened at the Cinema Ettore Scola with the morning screening of "Pescasseroli in the 20s: The Night of the She-Wolf" and the documentary "Transhumance" by director Roberto Zazzara, dedicated to the path of the sheep track from Abruzzo to Puglia. In the afternoon, at the PNALM Nature Center, the roundtable "Cults, knowledge, flavors, local specialties, identity... man and the sheep tracks" was held, promoted by Gaetano Tarquinio, president of the Pro Loco Pescasseroli, with institutional greetings from the Park president Giovanni Cannata and the mayors of Pescasseroli and Candela, and contributions from local scholars and experts.

Sunday, October 5 — the walk

The second day was dedicated to guided trekking, starting in the morning along the ancient sheep tracks from Barrea to Alfedena, accompanied by a mountain guide, to personally relive the transhumance route through the landscapes of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park.
