Edition 2025 — Almabtrieb Seiser Alm
The 2025 edition of the transhumance from the Alpe di Siusi to Castelrotto/Kastelruth was held on Saturday, October 4, 2025. In Compatsch, festivities began at 10:00 AM with alphorn players, Goaßlschnöller, demonstrations of ancient farming crafts, and a market of typical mountain products.
About 250 animals — cows, horses, goats, and sheep adorned with flowers and cowbells — descended towards the village, where the procession arrived around 1:30 PM accompanied by the sound of hundreds of bells. The highlights of the day included the preparation of South Tyrolean Muas over an open fire (at 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM) and the tasting of traditional dishes like Krapfen, amidst folk music and costumed dancing.
