Almabtrieb in Rodeneck (Kiahkemma)

The 2025 edition of the Almabtrieb in Rodeneck (Kiahkemma) was held on Saturday, October 11, with the festival opening at 11:00 AM at the Spritzenhütte, near San Benedetto/Nauders.

Around noon, the procession of cows decorated with flower crowns and bells arrived in the village, greeted by the public. Musical entertainment was provided by the Woazgruiba group, while the dancers of the Ronegga Schuichplattla performed acrobatic Schuhplattler dances. There was no shortage of whip-cracking by the Goaslkrocha and the traditional Preismelken milking competition.

Throughout the day, the Bauernjugend and the Bäuerinnen of Rodeneck served typical specialties of the Isarco Valley farmhouse cuisine, confirming the Kiahkemma as one of the most authentic and genuine cattle drives in South Tyrol.
