"Aju Cutturu" Mutton Festival

The 2025 edition of the festival

The 2025 edition of the "Aju Cutturu" Mutton Festival was held on Sunday, April 6, in San Gregorio da Sassola, in Piazza Brancaccio: the original date of Sunday, March 16, had been postponed. The food stalls opened at 11:30 AM, and throughout the day, it was possible to taste the recipes of the local pastoral tradition.

The complete menu — gnocchi with mutton sauce, "aju cutturu" mutton, bread, water, and wine — was offered for 13 euros, with the possibility of ordering individual dishes, as well as arrosticini, beer, and local wine. The festival was enlivened by live music and group dancing, in an atmosphere that involved residents and visitors, many of whom took advantage of the day to visit the medieval village, the church of Santa Maria della Cavata, and the Ponte della Mola.
