Edition 2025 — 80 Years of Arborio Rice

The official celebrations for the eightieth anniversary of the Arborio variety were conceived as an extraordinary event for 2026, the year marking the 1946–2026 milestone. No dedicated event was held in 2025: in Arborio, the culture of rice remained alive throughout the year through the rice-growing tradition of the Baraggia, the work of the Pro Loco, and the identity of a town that bears the name of one of the most famous Italian rices in the world.

The "Arborio in the Square" day is an extraordinary appointment linked to the eightieth anniversary of the Arborio variety (1946–2026) and does not constitute an annual recurring festival: therefore, no edition of this event took place in 2025.

In Arborio, in the Province of Vercelli, rice remains a protagonist throughout the year: cultivation in the Baraggia, the only Italian rice-growing area with DOP status, marks the seasons of the Vercelli plains, while the bond between the town and the variety that bears its name continues to be guarded by the community and the Pro Loco Arboriese. It is upon these roots that the eightieth-anniversary celebrations of 2026 are founded.
