1996 Versilia Flood Commemoration

The 2025 edition of the commemoration marked the 29th anniversary of the June 19, 1996 flood. As every year, the municipalities of Alta Versilia affected by the tragedy gathered in Cardoso and other sites of memory to honor the 14 victims. The program included wreath-laying at the memorial, moments of reflection along the Versilia River, and Holy Mass in the church of Cardoso. The ceremony, promoted by the Municipality of Stazzema in the province of Lucca together with other administrations, represented another step in the journey of collective memory leading up to the major 30th anniversary in 2026.
