17th February — Waldensian Celebrations (Bonfires of Freedom)

The 2025 edition of the 17th of February in Bobbio Pellice, in the upper Pellice Valley (province of Turin), reaffirmed the community's strong bond with its history. On the evening of February 16th, the torchlight procession climbed up to the Sibaud hamlet, where the bonfire of freedom was lit at dusk, simultaneously with other bonfires across the Waldensian Valleys.

On February 17th, the worship service with Holy Communion, led by Pastor Francesco Sciotto, opened the day, which continued with the community lunch in the multipurpose hall. As every year, the anniversary combined the memory of the 1848 emancipation with the conviviality of a village festival.
