The regatta that opens the sailing year on Garda
The Trofeo Tridentina and the Trofeo Visconti are among the longest-running competitions of the Fraglia Vela Desenzano (province of Brescia): in 2026 they reach their 59th and 52nd editions, respectively. They are held in the middle of winter, in February, inaugurating the sailing season of Lake Garda and kicking off the MaxiDolphin Lake Garda Series.
Classes and crews
The regatta, hosted in the gulf of Desenzano del Garda, brings together about 50 boats from the Dolphin 81, Meteor, Fun, Asso 99, and ORC classes. The crews, arriving from all over Northern Italy, compete on the cold waters of the Garda winter, where the wind can offer challenging and spectacular conditions.
A tradition of the Fraglia Vela
Founded in 1958, the Fraglia Vela Desenzano is one of the historic clubs on the lake and preserves with these trophies a tradition that has lasted for over half a century. The opening of the season in Desenzano is eagerly awaited by enthusiasts and owners as the first major confrontation of the year on the waters of Garda.

In 2026, the Fraglia Vela Desenzano opens the sailing season with the 59th Trofeo Tridentina and the 52nd Trofeo Visconti, scheduled for February 21st and 22nd. The regatta, the first stage of the MaxiDolphin Lake Garda Series 2026, attracts about 50 boats from the Dolphin 81, Meteor, Fun, Asso 99, and ORC classes to the gulf of Desenzano del Garda.
